Significance of the /sup 54/Fe (n,p) measurement of the Gamow-Teller transition

It is shown that the recently measured /sup 54/Fe(n,p)/sup 54/Mn reaction together with the /sup 54/Fe(p,n)/sup 54/Co reaction provide information about the quenching of Gamow-Teller strength due to random-phase approximation correlations.
