This feature includes brief reports on administrative, regulatory, and technical activities related to the safety aspects of the management of radioactive wastes and spent nuclear fuel. The information in this issue of Nuclear Safety was received during April, May, and June 1992, need for a systems analysis of the high-level radioactive waste (HLW) management and disposal program, the disposal of HLW in geologic repositories, emergency planning licensing requirements for independent spent fuel storage facilities and MRS facilities, and the NRC's HLW research program plan (Draft NUREG-1406).
