The complex oxide Ca{sub 3}ReO{sub 6} was synthesized and its crystal structure determined using X-ray powder analysis (space group P2{sub 1}/n; a = 5.53664(5) {angstrom}; b = 5.80322(5) {angstrom}; c = 7.98492(7) {angstrom}; {beta} = 90.073(1){degree}; R{sub 1} = 0.032, R{sub P} = 0.069, R{sub wP} = 0.095; Z = 2). The real symmetry is monoclinic due to a simultaneous tilt and rotation of the CaO{sub 6} and ReO{sub 6} octahedra. Electron diffraction and electron microscopy confirm the x-ray results. Ca{sub 3}ReO{sub 6} is isostructural with A{sub 2}RRuO{sub 6} oxides.
