We have studied pA and ..pi../sup -/A collisions in nuclear emulsion with and without emission of hadrons into the backward hemisphere in the lab. The distributions in multiplicity of gray particles in the forward and backward hemispheres are analyzed. It is shown that in hA interactions with emission of hadrons backward a stronger dependence of the multiplicities on the target mass is observed than for the average interaction. The standard deviations of the distributions in multiplicity of shower particles depend linearly on the average multiplicities. Differences are observed in the angular distributions of particles in collisions with and without backward emission of hadrons.
