On the basis of 7368 events of the reaction ..pi../sup -/p..-->..p..pi../sup +/..pi../sup -/..pi../sup -/..pi../sup 0/ at an initial ..pi../sup -/-meson momentum 4.5 GeV/c we have carried out a search for heavy isobars with masses in the region 1.8--2.2 GeV in the effective-mass spectrum of the system ..delta../sup + +/..pi../sup -/..pi../sup 0/. We have not observed the appreciable peaks observed recently by Sugahara et al./sup 6/ The experiment was performed in the 50- and 55-cm liquid hydrogen bubble chambers at our institute.
