Shock-tube studies of important combustion-reaction steps involving methyl radicals. Annual progress report No. 2, September 1, 1981-August 31, 1982

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:5748617

Initial shock-tube test runs with argon diluted mixtures (5%) of methyl acetate (CH/sub 3/COOCH/sub 3/) have been completed for the determination of the post reflected-shock conditions required for rapid CH/sub 3/COOCH/sub 3/-decomposition to methyl radicals (CH/sub 3/) and CO/sub 2/ and for the determination of the infrared spectral absorption coefficients for methyl acetate and methyl radicals in emission at lambda = 6.89..mu.. (..delta..lambda = 0.29..mu..) and in HeXe-laser absorption at 3.50..mu.. which are required for the subsequent monitoring of species concentrations during the chemical kinetics studies.
