Energy conservation and passive-solar retrofit workbook. [Consumer guide to home energy conservation]

Book ·
OSTI ID:5745101
The slow turnover of housing stock means that passive-solar and conservation equipment must be retrofitted into existing structures. This workbook was written to show homeowners how they can save money and use available technology to make their homes more efficient. Examples are drawn from actual projects in South Dakota homes. The first step is an evaluation of the situation in terms of climate, site, and findings from a home audit. Information on conservation principles, calculations, and construction techniques is followed by a marketing and financial guide. The workbook includes numerous line sketches, checklists, a glossary of conservation terms, and a list of information sources. 5 references, 7 figures, 17 tables. (DCK)
