The dynamic modulus of elasticity is measured with low deformations which practically excludes the possibility of plastic flow in the specimen. This is especially important during high temperature measurements and investigations of brittle materials. The measurements are carried out in a split electric furnace at temperatures of up to 1200/sup 0/C. Using this method they determined the Young's modulus and the shear modulus for specimens of coking dinas cut from wall articles and produced at the Pervourals factory, the Krasnoarmeisk factory and the Krasnogorovsk factory. The phase composition, the average values of the porosity and density of the specimens are shown. Considering the structural heterogeneity of dinas refractories, the measurements were made on 4-5 specimens of each type.
