Kinetics of formation of pyrocarbon from benzene

Rates of formation of pyrocarbon from benzene at 100-1300/sup 0/C were measured. It has been suggested that the high rate of growth of the pyrocarbon is explained by the participation of radicals formed during the gas-phase pyrolysis of benzene.
