A parametrically invariant quantity g/sup prime//sub 1/ has been used to investigate the diffraction dissociation of protons in four-prong pp interactions in nuclear emulsion. Momentum measurements were made for a set of events of the reaction p+p..-->..p+p+..pi../sup +/+..pi../sup -/. The cross section for the diffractive dissociation p..-->..p..pi../sup +/..pi../sup -/ is determined.
