In a method of fracturing an inclined subterranean formation, a fracturing fluid containing solid particles of low-density diverting agent (having a lower density than the fracturing fluid) and solid particles of high- density diverting agent (having a higher density than the fracturing fluid) is injected through a well and into contact with the formation at a pressure and volume flow rate sufficient to fracture the formation. The particles enter into the fracture so as to establish in it, at a distance removed from the well, flow diverting barriers updip and downdip from the well. (11 claims)
