This invention relates to the hydraulic fracturing of subterranean formations penetrated by a well, and more particularly to an improved method and fluid composition for hydraulically fracturing such formations. The fracturing fluid comprises a suspension of finely divided particles of a water-insoluble, oil-soluble homogeneous solid solution of wax and polymer in an aqueous solution of a water-soluble, high molecular weight, hydrolyzed polyacrylamide having from about 12 to 67% of the original carboxamide groups hydrolyzed to carboxyl groups.
