Possible overvoltages on the American Electric Power System's proposed new 1,050-mile, 765-kV transmission network are the subject of a comprehensive analytical investigation initiated by General Electric's transient network analyzer facilities. All aspects of the overvoltage problem at 765 kV, such as opening and closing of circuits, ferro-resonance, and unbalanced faults, are explored.
