The Arctic Project consortium - Petro-Canada; Nova, an Alberta Corp.; Dome Petroleum Ltd.; and Melville Shipping Ltd. - plans to deliver 250 million CF/day of gas from Canada's Drake Point field on Melville Island by ship to an eastern Canadian terminal where it will travel 100 miles via buried pipeline, undergo liquefaction, and be shipped by icebreaking carrier 3230 miles to a regasification plant in southern Canada. The project is now awaiting approval from the Canadian National Energy Board. The LNG facility site is at Bridport inlet, a natural harbor on Melville Island's southern coast. The LNG plant and storage tanks will be barge-mounted for easy transport.
