Leasing seen as attractive option for capital-short users

Capital-short buyers of energy-management systems can lease the equipment and receive the full value of the savings without having to pay the full up-front price. There is more risk than with a shared-savings arrangement, but this is balanced by tax benefits, which are available as long as the transaction is a true operating lease and not a disguised sale. Several leasing experiences illustrate the tax and financing opportunities available through leasing. (DCK)
