Nuclear emulsions are used to investigate spallation produced by 100--GeV iron nuclei. Data are obtained for the first time on the average multiplicities of secondary particles emitted when /sup 56/Fe collides with light (C, N, O) and heavy (Ag, Br) nuclei. The characteristics of the nucleus-nucleus interactions are seen to depend on the masses of the colliding nuclei.
