Fundamentals of heat transfer for process engineering

Book ·
OSTI ID:5699585
This book provides fundamental instruction in the subject of heat transfer for process engineering. The principles required for application in specific unit operations are presented in a manner which will make them useful in chemical engineering design. Presentation follows the classical method of separate discussions of conduction, convection, and radiation. Emphasis is placed on physical understanding while, at the same time, relying on appropriate experimental data in those cases which do not allow a simple analytical solution. First, topics are presented to explain and develop basic equations; next, applications of design equations for special situations in unit operations are covered; and, finally, the results are used to select optimum equipment for a particular operation. Examples are included in each chapter, thus making the text useful to practicing engineers who need to solve heat transfer problems, as well as to students who must acquire a proficiency.
