This paper describes the design aspects and operational considerations of a base loaded nominal 47MW combustion gas turbine heat recovery cogeneration plant located in Corona, California. The plant will sell electricity and steam to an adjacent milk processing facility and surplus electrical power to the local utility. The plant design incorporates a single General Electric PGLM5000 STIG aircraft derivative type natural gas fired combustion gas turbine with steam injection for nitrogen oxide (NO/sub chi/) suppression and power augmentation and a three pressure level head recovery boiler producing steam for use by the milk facility and the combustion gas turbine.
