Independent Energy Corporation, the May Company (then owner of G.Fox building), and the Hartford Steam Company reached agreement in 1986 to develop a 3.8 megawatt simple-cycle gas turbine cogeneration project at the location at the G.Fox building in downtown Hartford. The project involves a Solar Centaur Type {open_quotes}H{close_quotes} gas turbine coupled to a heat recovery boiler producing 400 PSIG superheated steam. The cogeneration plant sells all of its steam output to the Hartford Steam Company for its existing pipeline, and all of the electrical output is sold to the electric utility, CL&P. G. Fox retains its tie to the utility grid for standby and supplemental electric service. The project is described.
