N,N,N',N'-Tetraethyl-P-(trichloromethyl)phosphonimidic diamide reacts with carboxylic acids with the elimination of chloroform and the formation of the anhydrides of these acids. In the reactions of N,N,N',N'-tetraethyl-P-(trichloromethyl)phosphonimidic diamide with aromatic and aliphatic aldehydes chloroform is again eliminated, and N-benzylidene- and N-alkylidene-N',N',N'',N''-tetraethylphosphoric triamides are formed. Electronegative substituents in the aldehyde accelerate this reaction.
