Interpretation of permitted-line profiles in Seyfert-galaxy and quasar spectra

Journal Article · · Sov. Astron. Lett. (Engl. Transl.); (United States)
OSTI ID:5673153
A model for the envelopes of Seyfert-galaxy and quasar nuclei is developed on the hypothesis that gas clouds ejected from the nucleus are decelerated as they travel through the intercloud gas. The Balmer-line profiles calculated from this model are compared with the profiles observed.
