We report the first detection of DC/sub 5/N in interstellar space via its J = 9..-->..8 rotational transition at 22.878955 GHz. The observations were made on the NRAO 140 foot (43 m) antenna with the 1.3 cm maser. The ratio of the abundances of DC/sub 5/N to HC/sub 5/N, R(DC/sub 5/N), is 0.016 +- 0.003, assuming that the lines are optically thin. This large fractionation shows that ion-molecule reactions are active in the Taurus clouds, but it is not sufficient to prove that HC/sub 5/N is formed by ion-molecule chemistry. Comparison of R(DC/sub 5/N) with R(DC/sub 3/N) shows that R(DC/sub 5/N)
