A bill has been introduced in the Senate to protect the ozone layer by reducing chlorofluorocarbons and halons. The objective of this Act is to provide for a smooth transition away from the use of ozone-depleting chemical in order to protect the earth's ozone layer and to limit global warming. In order to achieve this objective, the national goal is to provide for an orderly and equitable shift to alternative chemicals and products and of facilitate the competitiveness of United States industry at home and abroad.
