Deficient repair and degradation of DNA in L5178Y S/S cells

Following radiobiologically significant doses of X rays, extensive DNA degradation in L5178Y S/S murine leukemic lymphoblasts can obscure the final stages of the rejoining of DNA strand breaks. This finding may impose qualifications upon conclusions reached concerning the restoration of the DNA structures in all X-irradiated mammalian cells.
