Soft-photon approximation for the. pi. /sup +/p. --> pi. /sup +/p. gamma. reaction in the vicinity of the. delta. /sup + +/(1236) isobar

It is shown that the inclusion of initial- and final-state rescatterings leads to a correct description of ..pi../sup +/p radiative scattering near the ..delta../sup + +/(1236) isobar. The value of the only free parameter ..mu../sub ..delta../ (magnetic moment of ..delta../sup + +/(1236)) lies between 2..mu../sub p/ and 4..mu../sub p/, which is consistent with the SU(6) predictions. The obtained value of the imaginary part of the magnetic moment of ..delta../sup + +/(1236) is 1.45 ..mu../sub P/.
