Radiological health data monthly report, Volume IV, Number 9
Data are presented on fission product radioactivity in samples of airborne particulates and precipitation collected throughout the US and Canada during May 1963 and at Pan American sampling stations during November 1962; radionuclides in institutional diet samples collected throughout the US during January, February, and March 1963; the content of Sr/sup 89/, Sr/sup 90/, Cs/sup 137/, I/sup 131/, and Ba/sup 140/ is parteurized milk samples collected throughout the US during May 1963 and in Canada during April 1963; the radioactivity in raw surface waters sampled at 126 stations throughout the US during 1963; and in vivo measurements of I/sup 131/ in children's thyroids. Results are included from a survey of radioactivity in the environs of Union Carbide Nuclear Co., Oak Ridge, Tennessee, and Paducah, Kentucky, during 1962. Data are summarized for 3 low-yield underground nuclear detonations announced during August 1963. Separate abstracts were prepared for 3 sections of this report.
