Determination of osmium and iridium in one sample by a kinetic method

This paper demonstrates the possibility of quantitative distillation of sodium peroxide from a sulfuric acid solution after fusion of the sample with an excess of sodium peroxide without the use of an additional oxidant; this makes it possible to determine iridium in the solution after the distillation. Investigations have shown that ruthenium is also partly stripped off in the distillation of the osmium from a sulfuric acid solution, so that it cannot be determined quantitatively from the same sample.
