Mobility of solvated electrons in alcohols

The authors carry out a comparative investigation of the mobility of e /SUB s/ in monohydric aliphatic alcohols by determination of the reactivity of this particle by pulse radiolysis. The authors used a high-speed spectrophotometric pulse-radiolysis unit based on the Elektronika ELU-6E linear electron accelerator. The mobility of e /SUB s/ changes in the series methanol-n-butanol. The calculated radius of e /SUB s/ was 0.3 + or - 0.05 nm in the investigated alcohols.
