This paper describes an autodyne NMR spectrometer for studying solids. The radio-frequency spectrometer uses a Pound-Knight circuit implemented by field-effect and bipolar transistors. The sensor uses a system of phase automatic frequency control (PAFC), which provides an absorption signal that is not distorted by dispersion. The frequency stability is 10/sup -8/ over 8 h. The autodyne generation level is 5-200 mV and the PAFC holding band is 200 kHz.
