Going sour. Science and politics of acid rain

Going Sour presents a look at acid rain, one of today's most critical issues. The Reagan administration has repeatedly forestalled action on the problem of acid rain, demanding ''more research.'' Biochemist Gould says we have all the research we need; it is time to act. While most books on the subject deal simply with the problematic results of acid rain, Going Sour examines this affliction in light of its origins with the industrial revolution, and provides concrete suggestions for action now. Gould also presents a discussion of science's impact on public policy in general, calling for a re-evaluation of current standards and practices.
