(Fabrication and irradiation performance of U sub 3 Si sub 2 -Al fuel)
The traveler attended the International Meeting on Reduced Enrichment for Research and Test Reactors 1989. Of particular interest to ORNL is the continuing fabrication experience and good irradiation performance of U{sub 3}Si{sub 2}-Al dispersion fuel since this is the prime candidate fuel for the Advanced Neutron Source reactor at ORNL. The traveler visited Compagnie pour l'Etude et la Realisation de Combustibles Atomiques (CERCA) and Kernforschungsanlage (KFA) Juelich the week before the meeting to discuss in detail their latest results on fabrication and irradiation performance of this fuel.
