High-voltage generator of variable nanosecond pulses for study of explosive electron emission

Journal Article · · Instrum. Exp. Tech. (Engl. Transl.); (United States)
OSTI ID:5618300
The generator, which was developed for studies of explosive electron emission, provides to an unmatched load two pulses (or a train) with independent real-time continuous control of the parameters of each: a no-load output voltage of less than or equal to 50 kV, a duration of less than or equal to 80 nsec, a rise time of less than or equal to 3 nsec, and a triggering instability of less than or equal to 3 nsec. The polarity of any pulse is arbitrary; the delay between pulses if 0-180 nsec. Repeated pulses at the load are eliminated. The actuation frequency of the generator is up to 25 Hz.
