The results of a cyclic voltammetric study of a series of uranium(IV) and neptunium(IV) organometallics, Cp{sub 4}M, Cp{sub 3}MCl, and Cp{sub 2}MCl{sub 2} (Cp = {eta}{sup 5}-C{sub 5}H{sub 5}; M = U, Np), are reported. In each case, the cyclic voltammetry of these compounds shows a single reduction wave exhibiting the characteristics of a one-electron process. The differences in the redox potential between the M(IV)/M(III) complexes in the series of compounds are smaller for neptunium than for uranium. 20 refs., 2 figs.
