As part of a study of the effectiveness of /sup 10/B as a capture agent for neutron capture therapy, the /sup 10/B concentrations of samples of tissue taken from brains, from tumors within the brains, and from the blood of rats are being measured following administration of pharmaceuticals. The measurements are made with the polycarbonate solid-state nuclear track detector (SSNTD) CR-39, using an autoradiographic procedure and an image analysis system for automatic track counting. Boron-10 concentrations in tissue have been measured by others using autoradiography and lexan and cellulose nitrate SSNTDs. This paper reports our procedure for measuring /sup 10/B concentrations using CR-39.
