The report surveys State legislation that was enacted in 1985, designed to protect ground water. Eight major categories of legislation are summarized: State-wide strategies, aquifer classification, standard setting, land use management, ground-water funds, agricultural chemicals, underground storage tanks, and water-use management. The report is divided into three sections: (1) comparison of State legislatures from 1985, (2) summary of all categories of legislation enacted in 1985, (3) summary of legislation on a category-by-category basis. Included in the document are the session law numbers (act or chapter) of the enacted legislation, and contacts to relevant State legislative staff for additional information.
