Mechanisms of interferon actions. Volume I

Book ·
OSTI ID:5608145

This 2-volume set, provides an overview of the state-of-the-art in interferon research. Presenting general background material as well as the highlights of important findings, the chapters cover such topics as: the production and purification of natural and recombinant DNA-derived and inteferons; the antiviral and cellular effects of intererons; interferon modulation of the immune system; the molecular mechanisms that lead to interferon induction of the antiviral state; the role of interferons in disease; and the clinical use of interferons in the treatment on human malignancies and viral infections. In Volume one the topics discussed are: Interferons: An Overview of Their Biolgoical and Biochemical Properties. Production and Purification of Natural Human Alpha Interferons. Production and Purification of Natural Human Beta Interferon. Production and Purification of Natural Human IFN-UPSILON. Production and Purification of Recombinant Human Interferons. Antiviral effects of Interferons in Different Virus-Host Cell Systems. Interferon Induction of the Antivrial State: Early Events. Interferon Induction of the Antiviral State: Protein Induced by Interferons and Their Possible Rules in the Antiviral Mechanisms of Interferon Action. Index.
