A hearing on three bills to amend the Clean Air Act brought testimony from state and government officials and representatives from industry and environmental groups. Bill H.R. 2521 amends the Clean Air Act to provide further control of air pollution generated as a result of activities on the outer continental shelf. H.R. 3054 addresses the failure of many urban areas to attain the Clean Air Act's air quality standards for ozone and carbon monoxide. H.R. 3197 provides that the EPA must consult with the Department of Transportation when issuing regulations that affect cars and trucks. The focus of this testimony was on the failure of many cities to achieve air quality standards.
