Stretching about 2200 miles from Alaska into Central America, the Overthrust belt might be the last significant oil and gas frontier in the US Explorationists have already defined two giant fields in the Utah-Wyoming fairway. PI'sreview of exploration and drilling in the Overthrust belt since the Pineview field discovery in 1975 includes the belt's geologic history, summaries of all known fields as of mid-1981, geophysical techniques used throughout the belt, drilling statistics, resource estimates, pertinent legislation, and a list of Overthrust wells completed from the Canadian border to southeastern Nevada.
