The importance of maintenance for lime flue gas desulfurization systems

This paper describes the advantages of good maintenance and the potential consequences of poor maintenance, as well as different types of maintenance needed for flue gas desulfurization (FGD) systems. Because of the large number of lime-based systems -- both wet and dry processes, lime FGD systems are used to illustrate maintenance practices. Although different FGD technologies have different types of equipment, which require various maintenance practices, most of the ideas that are discussed also apply to other types of FGD systems.
