A thermodynamic method was derived to obtain the standard chemical potential of adsorption from the infinitely dilute solution to the saturated adsorption surface at zero surface tension and its entropy and enthalpy terms using the equilibrium surface tension vs concentration curves for aqueous nonionic surfactant solutions. The standard chemical potential of adsorption was calculated from Lange's data of aqueous solutions of poly(oxyethylene) dodecyl ethers according to the above method. The value was always negative and increased linearly with the chain length of the hydrophilic group. 11 references.
