Integrated coking-gasification process with mitigation of slagging

Patent ·
OSTI ID:5586439
This patent improvement in a fluid-gasification process for converting heavy hydrocarbonaceous materials to lower boiling products, which comprises: introducing a heavy hydrocarbonaceous chagestock into a coke zone; introducing a portion of the solids with coke deposited thereon into a heating zone; recycling a potion of the heated solids from the heating zone to said coking zone; introducing a second portion of the heated solids from the heating zone to a gasification zone; and reacting the second portion of heated solids in the gasification zone with steam and an oxygen-containing gas. The improvement comprises: using an effective amount of a zeolitic material to prevent slagging in the gasifier, wherein the zeolitic material is introduced into the process by: adding it directly into the gasification zone through the bottom of the gasifier; or mixing it with the portion of heated solids passing from the hating zone to the gasification zone.
