Investigation of the influence of alpha irradiation on the valence states of the actinides. VII. Reduction of americium (V) in nitric acid solutions

The radiation chemical behavior of americium (V) ions was studied in nitric acid solutions in a wide range of variation of the composition of the medium and dose rate of internal a-irradiation of the solution. The law of the rate of reduction of americium (V) was established. It was suggested that the rate of reduction of americium (V) is affected by the nitrite ion--the main a-radiolysis product of the nitrate ion.
