Effect of oxygen desorption on electrical transport in YBa/sub 2/Cu/sub 3/O/sub 7-//sub delta/

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev. B: Condens. Matter; (United States)

Electrical resistivity of polycrystalline YBa/sub 2/Cu/sub 3/O/sub 7-//sub delta/, at temperatures between 20 and 900 /sup 0/C and various O/sub 2/ pressures, is correlated with oxygen deficiency delta. The observed strong increase above 400 /sup 0/C is explained by a model of homogeneous disorder: elastic scattering proportional to delta and electronic density of states depressed as (delta/sub c/-delta), where delta/sub c/approx. =0.85. The orthorhombic-to-tetragonal structural transition temperature, which is broadened by intrinsic fluctuations, is shown to be a linear function of delta.
