The reduction of the perchlorate ion was investigated in the presence of molybdenum(VI) in hydrochloric acid medium. The catalytic wave of the perchlorate ion is observed at a potential of -0.33 V. The rate constant of the limiting step of the process was determined: 1.3 x 10/sup 3//n/sup 2/ liters/mole x sec. A method of polarographic determination of ClO/sub 4//sup -/ in artificial solutions and in a feed additive is proposed. The lower limit of determinable contents is 2 x 10/sup -4/ M ClO/sub 4//sup -/ at set s/sub r/ = 0.15 (40/sup 0/C).
