Polarization of. lambda. /sup +//sub c-italic/ charmed baryons produced in neutron-carbon interactions

The asymmetry in decays of ..lambda../sup +//sub c-italic/ produced in neutron-carbon interactions has been measured in an experiment carried out by means of the BIS-2 spectrometer at the Serpukhov 70-GeV proton synchrotron. The averaged transverse momentum of the recorded ..lambda../sup +//sub c-italic/ was 0.43 GeV/c-italic. The decays ..lambda../sup +//sub c-italic/..-->..K-bar/sup 0/p-italic..pi../sup +/..pi../sup -/ and ..lambda../sup +//sub c-italic/..--> lambda../sup 0/..pi../sup +/..pi../sup +/..pi../sup -/ were studied. The asymmetries of baryon emission in the decay with respect to the ..lambda../sup +//sub c-italic/ production plane are A-italic(p-italic) = -(0.24 +- 0.13) and A-italic(..lambda../sup 0/) = 0.30 +- 0.22. It follows from this that the minimum absolute polarization of the ..lambda../sup +//sub c-italic/ is 0.5 +- 0.2.
