Construction and performance of an x-ray undulator beamline at the TRISTAN Accumulation Ring

An in-vacuum type undulator and its beamline NE3 with a Si(111) double-crystal monochromator is under commissioning. Spectra of synchrotron radiation measured in the energy range of 5--25 keV from the undulator shows a very good agreement with theoretical calculation. Some experiments of resonant nuclear scattering using {sup 57}Fe have been carried out using the third harmonics of the spectra. It has been proved that the undulator x rays are quite suitable for experiments of very small scattering cross sections.
