The continuous spectrum of 3C 273 in the region where the hydrogen line spectrum is formed can be represented by a superposition of synchrotron radiation with F..nu..proportional..nu../sup -2.36/ and black-body radiation corresponding to T=17,000--20,000 /sup 0/K. The interstellar and intraquasar reddening is equivalent to color excesses E (B-V)/sub i/=0/sup m/.07, E (B-V)/sub q/ =0/sup m/.13--0/sup m/.20. The intensity of the H..cap alpha.., H..beta.., H..gamma.. lines is measured on spectra secured with video scanners on the 1.5-m and 6-m telescopes. Theoretical intensities of the L..cap alpha.., H..cap alpha.., H..beta.., H..gamma.., P..cap alpha.. lines are calculated by Sobolev's method. For moderate line absorption the computed and observed intensities are consistent.
