This paper reports on the construction of Kern River Gas Transmission Co.'s 36-in. system. The new gas transmission line stretches 676 mi from Opal, Wyo., to a point just east of Barstow, Calif. From this point a 121-mi section of 42-inc. pipe will extend into Kern County, Calif., southeast of Bakersville. Here the system will split into 30-in. laterals of 55 mi and 48 mi. The 42-inc. and 30-in. segments are jointly owned by Kern River and Mojave Pipeline Co. Both firms will share capacity of the system and Majave will construct the 42-in. transmission line and the 30-in. laterals.
