Design, construction features of Kern River's gas system

This paper reports on design and construction features of Kern River Gas Transmission Co.'s new system which now in completion stages incorporated innovations rarely used previously. The 676-mi, 36-in., gas transmission system, stretching from Opal, Wyo. to Daggett, Calif., is a completely new line, the first such facility in almost 10 years. Innovations in design, steel for line pipe and new construction equipment and changes in environmental considerations were used for the first time.
