OSTI ID:5565892
DDT, its analogs, PCB's, lindane, dieldrin, and mercury in aquatic birds nesting on the shores of Lake Paijanne, the second largest lake in Finland, are examined. Wood processing industries and urban sewage pollute the lake. Mercury residues are highest in the diver, merganser, common tern, and common gull. PCB's are highest in the herring and common gull. DDT is highest in the herring gull, black-backed gull, and diver. Levels in 1972, 1973, and 1974 are not significantly different. (1 map, 36 references, 12 tables)
